banking system

Washington Mutual, that’s my bank! Almost all the desi’s around have an account in it and y not? It has a scheme for desi’s 1.No minimum balance 2.No monthly fees And I bet these two things are enough for a desi to open an account, but hey it has catch, is doesn’t have a concept of net transfer!!!! (So basically you use the netbank to see the statement) At first I thought this feature was missing only in this scheme, later found out the bank itself doesn’t have this facility! So even if you are a premium customer of WAMU, your netbanking will not have this feature…. So how do I transfer money to someone here??? Use cheques!!!! and you pay for the damn cheques!!! (how developed…) When asked the banker about this problem she says there are two ways to transfer money 1.Pay the person a cheque (really innovative guys… I never knew about this system huh! ) 2.Your name should be added to the account to which you are trying to transfer money (wowie- so I add my name to all the accounts to whom I think in near future I will transfer money!!!) Bharathi says Bank of America has net transfers but then, it is only between accounts of bank of America!!! (That’s better but still…) hmm... banking.................india is better mobile...................india is better publictransport...india is better(getting into one is a different question... atleast the damn thing exists)

Find a bank that does free online bill payment...also credit unions are much better when it comes to banking.

@shri - r u sri??
@deepak - dei i just feel that we pay for basic things...

ur 3 lines abt. banking, mobile, and public transport sums it all :-)...

i think the developed countries have the basic stuff at a easy price and effort and if you want to take another step further u r into the premium zone... and how they define basic stuff is so damn weird :-)... and in India, they improve one particular sector to one extreme (where even premium stuff are free) while leaving the others to pitts

dei.... wats ur problem in life......
rite from day one u keeep complaining.....

every system present (both in india and US) is formed based upon excessive study and analysis....
just coz... the way u see it is rong... it doesnt mean tht u have to keep cribing abt it...
if u find their system pathetic...
y cant u send ur comments to them??? they wud have a mechanism to receive feedback??? did u ever send anything to them???
it might be used for further study to make the system better.......

online banking in india is just comming up..... and they are trying to encourage people to use online money transfer.......

and if they charge right now for basic stuff...... its not possible to pull people to online banking.....

it wont take long b4 banks in india to charge for money transfers....

i am not biased with US.....
but since india is starting to comeup with new things... it wud have to be a lot more attactive to increase user base....

senthil natarajan said...

@hw- hee hee nakala
@pk- as usual! will post soon
@suman - i am not cribbing! i am only saying what is happening here!
a. It is not only in india you will find all these facilities
b. I don want this system to change, i give a damn... n moreover i guess i can write whatever i want to, as long it is authentic
c. no necessity of u getting tensed da... hee hee take it easy man

Anonymous said...

nothing to get tensed machi... i just feel.. tht everything needs to be looked in a broader sense......

may be u havent looked into every aspect...

senthil natarajan said...

@kitten: i knew this was coming from you...esp after suman commented!
so yeah! i indeed know u well...

these ppl here (incl suman) have got used to it so much that, they are thinking this(US way) is the best way to do things!!!!

Anonymous said...

hmm.....who said anything abt US being the rite or best way to do things????????
as i said b4 in india things r free cozz its just comming up.... it wont tke long for all the basic stuff to be charged there........
everything starts as free to get people addicted to the features....

senthil natarajan said...

@suman - dai, as i told you... i am not talking only about india...

Vidya said...
