Macbook overheating problem

I have had a weird problem of stuttering streaming video on my macbook, i couldn't figure out the reason.

Today i think i have figured out the reason, the reason has been overheating. smcfancontrol showing a consistent 80+celsius while streaming video.

Luckily also found a software which proves to be working so far! It is called coolbook... give it a try if you are experiencing the same problem!

Raavan movie review

With most of the north indian movie taking a dig at the movie, i thought i had to write about the movie that i liked... mind you i have watched the hindi version and not the tamil one yet... we all know the story, what we want is how has it been interpreted... Mr.Rathnam has done a fabulous job and i am pretty sure that he is one happy man. Acting - almost everyone have done a amazing job Visuals - the real hero music - arr do we need to say more? watch it in theater if you can... lushness of indian forest unfolds in screen and is definitely a treat to watch!!

3 idiots movie review

Its rajkumar hirani all over, the real hero of the movie is its story (may be chetan bhagat). I think amir's job was just to bring the audience in... star power ofcourse!!! Otherwise omi vaidhya's acting was better than the 3 idiots combined. For those who dont know about this person (like me) google his name. Wholesome entertainer, does not preach anything. Go watch - best hindi movie of the year!!!

slow internet connection!!!

I am sure a lot of people experience this all the time, and i just got disgusted with my XP. I have a macbook and a windows XP, macbook is 2 years old while xp laptop is just 8 months old. I couldn't just figure why xp was so horrendously slow.. I probably tried everything that i could, but the thing wouldn't be fast enough.
Finally i tried a few things which i believe has improved the connection speed to some extent. I dont know if this would help someone, but you can actually try it...
1. Stop the windows updater, i believe it hogs the connection in the background....
2. Download this free system maintenance tool ... 'Advanced System care'.... this is better than a lot of tools that are out there...
good luck and happy browsing...

i am back

I have no excuses for not posting for 3 months... i know, my posts this year have been sporadic and pretty much have been news feeds. Well i kind of got buried into a lot of work, and i am still buried tho' thought i would as well start writing again. I am not going to post much today... will do soon!
btw my blog celebrated its 5th birthday 2 months back!!!

arundathi movie review

I was really apprehensive when i booked for this, tho' the reviews were favorable i was wondering how would a dubbed movie be, but thanks to a good screen play the movie was not at all a disappointment. The major plus is anushka, she has carried the complete movie with ease.

Graphics are not up-to standards but then good enough for an indian movie, anushka's dance is another drawback. On the whole the movie is an entertainer with some disappointments with logical connections and if you are ready to ignore all that, then yeah go ahead and watch.

pattalam movie review

I am writing a movie review after a very long time, what made me write about this movie??? was it that good that i had to write... well it was the other way round, i am still clueless as to what the director had in his mind.I honestly feel that a couple of boys could have been avoided, they were staring at the camera as a newbie does... Mr. Rohan krishna (director) you could have casted someone else or just done without them...

The boys barring two of them have done a good job! saving grace of the movie... jassi gift - good music score, other wise honestly i thought with these boys he should have delivered a better movie... i dont want to say anymore about the movie

Hathway broadband connection review

I got my hathway broadband 3 months back, i got myself 1 - Mbps 4GB for 4-months, it costs Rs 1000 for 4 months and in case you run out of 4G in between u can call them and renew your subscription for another 4 months. So far i have not had any problem with the connection. Except for the fact that my VOIP device doesn't work properly.

i typically use 700 -800 MB of data every month so this plan is perfect for me. Here is a screen shot of the download from a good server

i have seen speeds reaching 105KBps and i am happy with it.

Chennai Sangamam

wishing you all a very happy pongal... this video i took at venkatnarayana road! the festive season at its best..

wireless charging station

i have always wondered why with all the technological advancements that we have made, we have not yet found a way to transmit power wirelessly. As it is with other achievements i have always believed that even this would be matter of time before which it really happens. I have not read anything great after the Tesla...

Today was seeing the presentations at the CES and i saw this and well i think this is the first step... i might be a mat which transfers power but as the guy says in the video they could ship it along with the laptops and lo! i wouldnt have to be worried about my chargers anymore... intersting...this would open up a lot of upgrades (enhancements)...

Good Bye 2008

Can't believe that another year is coming to an end... good bye 2008 and looking forward for a fabulous 2009. Happy new year to all...

The biggest news maker this year i would say was 'global warming' almost all the news papers / channels spoke about it atleast .. giving us evidence of the same. There was skeptics who did not believe that it was our CO2 that was doing that damage... Telegraph's Christopher believes the same...here is the article

Last Updated: 1:51PM GMT 30 Dec 2008

As Christopher Booker says in his review of 2008, temperatures have been dropping in a wholly unpredicted way over the past year. Last winter, the northern hemisphere saw its greatest snow cover since 1966, which in the northern US states and Canada was dubbed the "winter from hell". This winter looks set to be even worse.

The earth was hotter 1,000 years ago

Evidence from all over the world indicates that the earth was hotter 1,000 years ago than it is today. Research shows that temperatures were higher in what is known as the Mediaeval Warming period than they were in the 1990s. The earth's surface temperature is not at record levels

According to Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies analysis of surface air temperature measurements, the meteorological December 2007 to November 2008 was the coolest year since 2000. Their data has also shown that the hottest decade of the 20th century was not the 1990s but the 1930s.

Ice is not disappearing

Arctic website Crysophere Today reported that Arctic ice volume was 500,000 sq km greater than this time last year. Additionally, Antarctic sea-ice this year reached its highest level since satellite records began in 1979. Polar bear numbers are also at record levels.

Himalayan glaciers A report by the UN Environment Program this year claimed that the cause of melting glaciers in the Himalayas was not global warming but the local warming effect of a vast "atmospheric brown cloud" over that region, made up of soot particles from Asia's dramatically increased burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.

Temperatures are still dropping

Nasa satellite readings on global temperatures from the University of Alabama show that August was the fourth month this year when temperatures fell below their 30-year average, ie since satellite records began. November 2008 in the USA was only the 39th warmest since records began 113 years ago.

ET

i have been reading about probes doing rounds and finding ideal zone for extra terrestrial life. Now what is this ideal zone or the so -called comfort zone.

1. The temperature is just right

2. Oxygen is optimum

3. Water is present and a few other things.

Now i would believe that, these are the conditions for earth like creatures to exist, but why are scientist bent upon looking at these places for ET????

Their make might as well be completely different and they may not need oxygen but something else to survive.... they may not need sunlight or i do not know.... these probes which cost so much could probably be used to find an alternative home for humans but not as a means to find ET's

Am sure people at places like NASA have thought about this long back... but for some reason we keep getting news like this one
